Advances In Psoriasis Treatment
Offer Hope To Millions ``NEW YORK, NY -- October 30, 1997 -- An
estimated six million Americans suffer from psoriasis. The disease occurs
in a variety of forms that differ in severity, duration, location and the
shape and pattern of scales. Some cases are so mild people don't know they
have it. At the opposite extreme, severe psoriasis can interfere with everyday
life and is very debilitating. ``P\S\L Consulting Group

CLINIC OF PSORIASIS DR. FERNANDO MORGADO TORO ``The clinic of psoriasis
of the Institute of Inmunology was created in 1981 in Valdivia, Chile by
his present director Dr. Fernando Morgado Toro, physician and former professor
of inmunology at the Austral University of Chile and Western Kentucky University,
with research activities in the fields of regulation of the inmune response
and methods of immunosuppression. His clinical practice has been specialized
in the management of psoriatic patients. Located in the city of Santiago-Chile,
the purpose of the clinic is to provide high technical medical service
to people suffering from psoriasis, in order to improve their quality of
life through the clearing of the psoriatic lesions and the prevention of
arthritis, a complication associated to psoriasis. In selected cases, the
clinic applies the PUVA treatment to the patients with vitiligo, micosis
fungoide and atopic dermatitis.

PSORIASIS A
Medical Education Service for the Public By National Skin Centre. ``What
is psoriasis ? Psoriasis is a non-contagious, chronic skin disorder that
is seen as raised, rough, reddened areas covered with scales. The rashes
commonly affect the scalp, the back of the elbows and front if the knees
but patches may appear on other parts of the body at the same time. Nail
involvement is present in most patients with psoriasis and seen as
pits, thickening or separation of the nails from the nails bed. About 10%
of patients develop pain and swelling of joints, commonly of the hands
and feet and this is known as psoriatic arthritis.``

Psoriasis Hall of PShame
This is a critical review of psoriasis treatments promoted on the
net. Many of these are scams. Some are just
deceptive misinformation, others are potentially dangerous. Secrets are
revealed wherever possible to spoil the marketing game. It's a shame that
these hucksters prey on people desperately looking for a safe and effective
treatment.

SHORT CONTACT
THERAPY ``Dithrocream should be applied once a day and left on for
only 30 minutes. You may find it helpful to time the application so that
you put it on half an hour before your usual shower or bathtime. A small
amount of cream should be rubbed accurately into the psoriasis areas until
the cream is absorbed. Try to avoid the surrounding normal skin. To avoid
staining of clothes or chairs, you could wear an old dressing gown. After
30 minutes the cream should be washed off by showering or bathing.`` The
